The Matter Map
The /intake skill triggers the DealTeam agent to build a matter map from your working files. A matter map is a structured representation of the deal materials inside DealTeam based on the content in your working folder. It doesn’t move, rename, edit, or reorganize the source files themselves. When your working folder changes, DealTeam updates the matter map so its understanding is always current and correct.

Once DealTeam has built a matter map for your project, you can treat your working folder as a dropbox. Just throw anything relevant into your working folder, and DealTeam will:
- Read and inventory drafts, markups, PDFs, comments, emails, attachments, checklists, and supporting materials.
- Detect document relationships by analyzing which files belong in a group together, which version is current, what changed between drafts, and which versions belong to a negotiation turn.
- Extract the deal context by identifying parties, key documents, defined terms, open issues, deadlines, players, approvals, waivers, and open questions.
- Link conclusions to sources so questions and decisions point back to the document, comment, email, or whatever other source they’re based on.
- Build structured context for the AI so the model gets the important facts directly instead of re-reading raw files from scratch every time the lawyer asks a question.
